Mission
NQT co. is a London-based laboratory for experimental theatre & performance. The core company is comprised of a rotating ensemble of multidisciplinary artists working collectively on devised works of postdramatic theatre under the leadership of Artistic Director John Kurzynowski.
All new works favour process over product, with an emphasis placed on the potential for discovery and invention within experimental artistic practices that reject preconceived notions of commercial success. This emphasis may result in theatrical performances that are not quite theatre as it is, but rather representations of what theatre could be without the expectations of what it should be.

Company
NQT co. seeks to challenge traditional company structures and producing models. A core ensemble is formed for each new project based on the creative and administrative needs of that particular artistic interrogation. Rather than taking on individual roles within the company, ensemble members work collectively to develop and produce the current project and nurture the company’s core process of creative collaboration. Additional associate artists make up the rest of each project’s creative team.

Projects
Project 1: This Technicolor Play
Inspired by the melodramatic and flamboyant style of Douglas Sirk’s 1950s Technicolor cinema, an ensemble of secondary stock characters interrogates the dark underbelly of melodrama — the ugly truth hidden beneath the bright veneer of ridiculously dramatic storytelling. This postdramatic fever dream seeks to expose this underbelly and transpose the lurid worlds of Sirkian cinema to the stage.
